Ok now that we got that straight, lest get started, below you will find the first four steps to getting you started follow them and you will be able to get started.

Step one Choosing a Domain name.

To decide what your domain name should be first you have to know what you want your website to do for you,

Do you know what i mean?. Start by answering these questions

1) Do you want your site, to build a Name for your Business?

or

2) Do you want to be looked at by Google?

Well come back, if you want to build brand for yourself or your small business the your domain name should have your name or your brands name in it. Simple right? but what happens if your name is already taken on the net? what should you do? Well you can go with.net,.org.me.cc and more but you want to try and stay with the.com.

So if you want mycarstereo.com. and its taken then try

my-car-stereo.com, do you get the idea? I hope so. If not visit this blog, for video tutorial http://www.freebuildawebsite.com.

If you want to be found by the search engines then i assume you want to get free traffic let me start by saying that having a relevant domain name will help with ranking,but your domain name by itself won’t get you the first spot on Google, Ok? For you that want to make your money online then i assume that you have a niche market, then your domain name should include your main Keywords your are trying to be found for, if you have a soup recipe site then you want to have something like this,

souprecipes.com., if you find that your niche is very competitive you might want to be more specific.
use a key word tool to find the recipe that gets the most searches like, cabbage soup, chicken soup, potato soup, etc etc. include one of those sub words in your domain name like, cabbagesoup.com. do you get it?they might be less competitive and easier to get ranked for.

Step Two: Get hosting for your sites.

2) The next thing you will be needing is Yes you guessed it, ” Hosting” your own little spot on the www.com Jungle, I highly recommend paying for this,

Why? because you will have so much more control if you do,  exp: Free means Ads on your site making them money, or your domain name will be www.theirsitename.com/yoursite.php , that will never let you really own your site nor will you have all of the Cool tools that I  will show you how to use later, but if you really must do so. The one I am going to go over is  Host Gator because it’s what Millions of people use,  there are other good Hosting sites, but for now lest get started with Host Gator.

First click here  host Gator and you will be taken to  this screen.

I recommend using the virtuozzo package its the best value for your money, that’s the one I use and I absolutely think its the easiest  to use. Plus You will have WordPress  witch will  help you latter, trust me.

Plus you get unlimited e-mail addresses and unlimited domains and parked domains. Once you are all singed up you will have access to your cpanel witch looks like this.

Now that that’s all done lest move on to the next step.

Step three: HTML editor, witch one is free and easy to use.

Third thing to do is Download a W,Y,S,I,W,Y,G, editor this software will let you edit ,H,T,M,L code.  Don’t get scared by all of these new names you’ll get more familiar with these names as we go along  .The one I cover in the video is Kompozer this is the one that I used in the beginning and it  for me, and its Free. Watch the video to lean how to install this program and watch the video to learn how to use it.

Step four: Download and set up your File Zilla.

3) And the forth  thing you’ll need to get you up and running an FTP program. That is going to be the way you put your page on your server so every one can see it.

(don’t worry I’ll show you how) and for that you are going to need a F.T.P (file transfer protocol) software program to use, we will use File Zilla because it is free, And it will get the job done.

Once you have downloaded File Zilla and installed it now you need to set it up to upload files to your server for everyone to see.

First click on the icon in the top left corner and you will get the next screen scroll down to see..

You will see this pop up window below. Click on the New website button, then name your connection,( the name doesn’t matter).  On the Host tab, type the name of your domain that you registered in the last step, then on the port tab type 21, change the Logon type to normal, then type in your user name, (the one you use to register your domain). type in your password and click on connect.

If you did it right you will see folders on both sides, on right and the left, like this.

The ones  on the left are the folders in your PC , and the ones on the right are the folders that are on your server. Most all of the time you will only be using the folder named “public html”, that’s where all the folders are for everyone to see.

Now you are ready to start making your web pages and up loading them to your server.
